About Clear to Compete
What is Clear to Compete?
Clear to Compete (C2C) is a lookup tool that helps athletes check whether a medication or substance is on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) or National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) banned list, so an accidental positive test does not cost them their eligibility.
Who is it for?
Athletes at every level, and the people who support them: coaches, athletic trainers, team physicians, agents, and compliance staff. It is built especially for the moments when an athlete is on their own and needs an answer quickly.
Is Clear to Compete affiliated with WADA or the NCAA?
No. Clear to Compete references the WADA and NCAA prohibited lists but is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by either organization.
When can I start using it?
The app is in final development. If you would like to help us beta test Clear to Compete, email us at [email protected].
Searching and Results
What can I search for?
Medications, peptides, and individual ingredients such as a single herb, vitamin, mineral, or amino acid. You can search a drug by its brand name in the country where it is sold, and the app matches it to the compound underneath.
Can I check a brand-name supplement or a multi-ingredient product?
Not as a whole product. Clear to Compete checks individual ingredients, so you can look up each ingredient on the label. A lookup cannot tell you whether a supplement was contaminated or contains something not listed on the label. For supplements, choose products that are NSF Certified for Sport.
What results will I see?
Each search returns one of three results: Banned, Conditionally Banned (for example, banned in competition only), or Not on Banned List.
Which banned lists does it check?
You choose WADA, NCAA, or both. If you choose both, you get a separate answer for each list.
What if I need a medication that is banned?
When a medical exception process exists, the app links you to it: a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for WADA, or a Medical Exception for the NCAA. Clear to Compete does not grant exemptions. You apply through the governing body.
What happens when the banned lists change?
When WADA or the NCAA updates its list, the app shows you a notice about the changes, with links to the official websites. List updates during your subscription are included at no extra cost.
Is a Clear to Compete result medical or legal advice?
No. Clear to Compete is a reference tool, not medical advice, legal advice, or a guarantee of compliance. Under most anti-doping rules, athletes are responsible for any substance found in their body. Always confirm with your team physician, athletic trainer, or governing body. See our Disclaimer for details.
Free Trial, Billing, and Cancellation
Is there a free trial?
Yes. New users get a 7-day free trial. Each person is eligible for one free trial.
When will I be charged?
If you do not cancel during the 7-day free trial, the annual subscription fee is charged to the payment method you provided when you signed up.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time during the 7-day free trial, and you will not be charged. Once the trial ends and the annual fee is charged, the subscription cannot be canceled for the rest of that year.
Can I stop my subscription from renewing?
Yes. Individual subscriptions renew automatically each year, and you can turn off automatic renewal at any time before your renewal date. Your subscription then ends at the close of the current term.
Can I get a refund?
Because you can cancel at no charge during the free trial, subscription fees are non-refundable once charged, including renewals, except where required by law. See our Terms and Conditions for details.
Teams and Groups
Can my team, school, conference, or agency enroll our athletes?
Yes. Clear to Compete offers group enrollments for teams, conferences and federations, and agents. Contact us to set one up, including volume pricing and white labeling.
I was enrolled by my team or agent. How do I sign in?
Your team or agent will give you a code. Enter it the first time you sign in.
Your Account and Privacy
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Use the password reset option on the sign-in page.
Can I use Clear to Compete on more than one device?
Clear to Compete is a web app, so it works in your browser. You can be signed in on one device at a time.
Do you save my searches?
No. Searches are processed only to return a result and are not saved. You can save your own lookup log from within the app before you log off, and when a search returns a banned result, the app prompts you to save it. That gives you your own record of what you checked and when.
Do you collect my health information?
No. Clear to Compete does not collect, store, or link consumer health data to your account. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what we collect.
Can athletes under 18 use Clear to Compete?
Yes, with the consent of a parent or guardian. The app is intended for users 18 and older.
